Our Story
Eurig and Leighanne Jones live at Garden Cottage which is surrounded by an acre of garden. The cottage itself is located within the grounds of Pantyderi, a 1000 acre farm that rears both cattle and sheep. The cottage originally was built for a gardener who was responsible for taking care of the produce grown for the stunning Georgian Plas Pantyderi Manor which is located just adjacent to the cottage. The Glamping pod is situated in one of the gardens behind Garden Cottage which has been dedicated to now growing their own produce. A 1940's commercial greenhouse originally built to sustain the manor is still in full use and has recently been renovated. Produce includes a variety of fruit and vegetables and visitors are welcome to sample them but of course this is subject to the time of year. The other unique feature of this garden is its large pumpkin patch, giving rise to vibrant, bright orange, Jac o Lantern pumpkins which can be enjoyed from September through to October.
Whilst Eurig is busy running the family farm with his father, Leighanne works as a part time large animal vet in the local town of Cardigan and also takes care of their three daughters and the running of the glamping pod.
Our Pets
Our extremely friendly cat Nutmeg is often hanging around when he's not on the farm up in the hay sheds. He loves a bit of fuss and attention. We also have one dog called Jake, a 5 year old Hunterway cross Collie. He is very friendly and loves a cuddle. Sadly we recently said goodbye to our 14 year old Border Collie Flash who had been poorly for some time. He is so dearly missed and we'll keep his photo on the website because he was such a big part of our family. Jake lives on the farm, away from the cottage. If you would like to meet him just let us know and we'll be happy to take you.
Going for a walk
There are public footpaths close by and they begin from the lake. They can take you exploring for hours and our favourite is the bluebell walk which is just stunning in May-June.
The Pumpkin Patch
Depending on the time of year, the pumpkin patch which is visible from the pod may be in the early stages of production or in full colour and ready for harvest. We sow approximately 200 'Jac o Lantern' seeds, 50 'Baby Boo' seeds, 50 Jack be Little seeds and 50 warty Gourd varieties giving rise to around 4-500 pumpkins.
For the latter two weeks in October we open one of our gardens to the public for a 'pick your own pumpkin' experience between the hours of 10am-5pm. Guests may like to partake in this experience and have first pick of the pumpkins. We provide activities for children to encourage them to engage with their surroundings and there are large picture face boards for you to take your family photos.
We look forward to seeing your lantern creations!
